Wright-Way Services’ Ultimate Green Building Demonstration

The Wright House at Wright-Way Services (12863 CR 192, Tyler, TX) was built as our personal demonstration piece — a showcase of everything we’ve learned about high-performance, old-world elegant, and ultra-efficient construction. This home achieved Emerald Certification (the highest level in the green building program) with an outstanding -28 rating, meaning it produces significantly more energy value than it consumes.
Progression Pictures of the Wright Emerald Certified Build:
Extreme Energy Efficiency & Green Features
Emerald-Level Green Building: We checked nearly 92% of all possible points — from physical termite barriers and advanced 2x6 framing to Energy Star reflective roof coating.
Highest R-Value Walls: Advanced framing techniques allowed maximum insulation space, rigid foam, Tyvek ThermoWrap (adds R-2), and full spray foam.
Deep 18-Inch Roof Overhangs: Shades windows in summer while allowing winter sun to warm the house — dramatically reducing cooling loads.
Protected Entry & Glass Walls: Deep recessed entry keeps the front door near ambient temperature. Extended covered patio turns large glass areas into a non-issue for energy loss.
Local Materials: Oklahoma chat stone and locally kilned brick minimized transportation and embodied energy.
Sustainable Lumber: Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) certified Natty Alder used throughout, including custom countertops finished with two-part epoxy faux stone.
Zero-Maintenance Exterior: Vinyl and coil metal finishes, shaded driveway (reduced heat island effect), and native Zoysia grass landscaping.
Only 3 Trees Removed: Careful site planning preserved almost every mature tree on the property.
Completed Pictures of the Wright Emerald Certified Build:

Thoughtful details everywhere: boxed ceilings, ornate trim, and zero-maintenance exterior.
ICF Basement & Structural Strength
Massive ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) basement using 160 yards of concrete.
Advanced waterproofing: French drain, thick torch-down rubber membrane, and proper grading.
Superior framing techniques (2-foot centers, engineered headers, scrap nailers) that reduce lumber waste while increasing strength, fire rating, and sound deadening.
This home was designed with off-grid capability in mind while delivering luxurious, comfortable living. It proves that you can have beauty, strength, and extremely low operating costs at the same time.
