Bill (William) Criswell

Bill Criswell was first exposed to the residential construction industry in the early 1970s, working with his uncle who was a house framer and remodeler. He worked on his vacations and holidays during Jr. high and high school.  By the time he finished high school, he was a relatively skilled carpenter. After high school, he continued to work as a carpenter, learning to read blueprints, perform layouts, and eventually started his own framing crew, framing for various builders and doing local remodels. One of the builders he framed for was far ahead of his time, utilizing different framing methods, that would be later known as “advanced framing techniques,” to create more energy efficient homes.

Little did he know at the time how this experience and knowledge would benefit him some twenty five to thirty years in the future!

Around the mid-eighties he decided to become a homebuilder, building just a few homes each year, while still doing remodeling and framing jobs. He continued building and framing until 1991, when he was offered a position with the National Association of Home Builders’ “Education and Training” division as a program manager. He managed up to 31 training programs at as many as thirteen locations, working closely with the Department of Labor, to meet local municipalities, and local HBA’s skilled labor needs.

In 2002, after eleven years of traveling, training, seeing many diverse methods of construction, he decided it was time to re-enter the housing industry, and use the experience and knowledge he had gained over the years. He moved to the Tyler area in 2004, where he met and eventually went to work with Rudy Wright and Wright-Way.

With over 35 years of experience in the industry, having completed Green Builder Certification, maintaining a Certification as a Vinyl Installer, a licensed Septic Installer, a licensed DR, and numerous training opportunities Bill is an asset to Wright-Way’s Construction Division and his knowledge and experience benefits the company as well as all of our customers.
